10 DOLLAR NET10 AIRTIME MINUTES PLUS
I figured $80 for the first month, $50-$60 for additional months - plus 3c/min. The up-front cost of a phone was pretty steep (~ $60 minimum), but refurbs and some sale phones include a $50 startup credit for about $70. This gave unlimited talk/text/pic service for $52/mo - as long as I only used the phone withing a single local calling area. They also offrerd a package with unlimited incoming, texts, picture messages, and local nights & weekend for $45/mo or $2/day. That number could be set up as the number for a calling card, from which I could make calls to the US and Canada for under 3c/min. The main reason was that they offered a deal for unlimited calls to one local number for $7/mo. I looked into this a few months ago, and for a stay of about a month the best deal seemed to be Telus prepaid. If you are going to use the phone enough (you do the math) in Canada, it could be worth buying a Canadian pre-paid.
